When Dr Abdukadir Abdirahman saw that more and more people in his town were dying from the lack of nearby medical facilities, he decided to set up his own ambulance service. He called it Aamin, which in the Somali language means 'Trust', and decided its service should be offered for free. Since a humble start with only one ambulance car, Aamin Ambulance Service has grown to a fleet of twenty vehicles. Today it's the only free private ambulance service in Mogadishu. Whenever an explosion hits the terrorists-plagued Somalian capital, Aamin dispatches one of its ambulances to the rescue.
