Father of the American cavalry

Boston Calling

Available for over a year

Casimir Pulaski was born in Poland. He鈥檚 considered a hero of the American revolutionary war, and he鈥檚 often referred to as the 'Father of the American Cavalry.' Pulaski's skeletal remains were exhumed some years ago from beneath a monument to him in Savannah in the state of Georgia. That gave scientists a chance to do a full forensic analysis and they discovered that his skeleton has female characteristics. Anthropologist Virginia Hutton Estabrook tells us about this unexpected tale of gender and identity. (Count Casimir Pulaski known as 'Father of the American Cavalry.'
