'I was taught to not like the way I looked'

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

We speak to Ghanaian artist Sarah Owusu, who discovered her artistic skills while overcoming Bells Palsy, a health condition leading to the paralysis of the muscles of the face. After waking up one morning with a side of her face paralysed, one of her first reactions was to grab a brush and start painting. Now healed, she devotes her artistic vein to representing African and Black beauty in her works. (Photo Credit: Robert Binda)
