Zambian copper mines sale to China ‘not a done deal’

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

What is the future of Konkola Copper Mines - one of the country's biggest employers? The government is looking for a new investor for the company, since deciding that the previous owner - Vedanta Resources - was no longer up to the job. Speculation has been rife as to who the buyer will be, with many suggesting that China, as Zambia's biggest creditor, is the most likely buyer. Focus On Africa’s Veronique Edwards spoke to Zambia's Information Minister, Hon. Dora Siliya, and asked if it really is a done-deal. (Photo: Zambia's Information Minister, Hon.
