Manila's Pasig River: A dumping ground for bodies

Global News Podcast

Available for over a year

The Pasig River has long been a dumping ground for waste generated by Manila’s 13 million residents, and the pollution got so bad that in 1990 ecologists declared the river "biologically dead". That's no longer the case, but the river now has a new problem - the dumping of bodies. Residents suspect that the bodies are victims of President Rodrigo Duterte's brutal war on drugs. Our Philippines correspondent Howard Johnson reports. Photo: Rescuers search the Pasig River for bodies Credit: Howard Johnson
