The baby boxes project in Kenya is providing healthcare for poor women by gifting them with kits carrying all the essentials for their newborn, including mosquito nets, bedding and clothes. Baby boxes are promoted as a safe alternative to standard cots, bassinets and Moses baskets and it is claimed that it can help reduce sudden infant death It is an idea that has been borrowed from Finland and the person behind the Kenyan initiative is Lucy Wambui.
