The son of a woman who killed her husband with a hammer after living in an abusive marriage for more than 30 years says changing domestic abuse laws in Northern Ireland to include coercive control must be a priority. Sally Challen was jailed for life in 2011 after she was found guilty of murdering her 61-year-old husband Richard in Surrey. Following a successful appeal her murder charge was reduced to manslaughter with diminished responsibility in June. Having already served nearly nine years in prison, she was able to walk free. David Challen has been speaking to our reporter, Teresa Craig.
