India pollution: Putting out the fires caused by stubble burning

World Update

Available for over a year

In recent weeks air pollution levels in Delhi reached their highest in several years. Stubble burning in rural areas is blamed for a lot of the poor air quality but farmers say they need to do this to dispose of straw. Now women in rural areas have formed groups called the Jhansi ki Rani squad, named after a 19th-century queen known for her bravery, to convince people to stop the practice. Arvind Chhabra reports.
