"It was nearly the end of me.."

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

Doug 'Taz' Hall is a gym instructor at the Veterans Cafe in Wyke Regis, Weymouth. The 34 year old left the British Army a decade ago after serving with the Royal Horse Artillery, 1RHA. Deployments to Iraq in 2004 and 2007 (Telic) left Doug suffering with mental health issues, including bi-polar and borderline personality disorder (BPD). When he left the armed forces he studied a sport science degree at university, but he told Â鶹Éç Radio Solent reporter Laurence Herdman that the transition from soldier to student was 'horriffic'. His life began to spiral out of control with drug and alcohol addiction. It resulted in homelessness and nearly ended in tragedy, before the intervention of the Veterans Hub, who Doug says 'saved his life'.
