In February 2018 one hundred and nine girls were abducted from their school in Dapchi in Yobe state in the north east of Nigeria by Islamist militants, believed to be ISWAP, a splinter group of Boko Haram. Just over a month later all but one were released, Leah Sharibu who was fourteen at the time remained in captivity. She reportedly refused to renounce her Christian faith and ever since her family have been trying to secure her release without success. Her mother, Rebecca Sharibu is in London to lobby the UK government for help in finding her daughter. The Leah foundation set up in the wake of the teenager's abduction has assisted in the family's efforts. Rebecca Sharibu spoke to Focus on Africa's Bola Mosuro in Hausa and with Â鶹Éç colleague Bara'atu Ibrahim translating. (Image: Rebecca Sharibu. Credit: Â鶹Éç)
