Imagine a world where affluent black people rule over an underclass of white people. Malorie Blackman brought this notion to life with a series of novels – which have inspired the launch of a new TV series called Noughts and Crosses. Taking place in an alternate 21st-century Britain, Noughts and Crosses is a love story between adolescents Sephy and Callum. Segregated into 'Noughts' and 'Crosses' dependant on class and stature, Sephy is a 'Cross' and Callum is a 'Nought'. The two fall in love and a dangerous journey of interracial love ensues – one full of prejudice and distrust. 30-year-old British-Ghanaian director, Koby Adom visited the Focus on Africa studio to share what the novels meant to him.
