Liz Benson: 'I'm elated with where Nollywood is today'

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Say the name Liz Benson and many Nigerians will sit up. She was legend of the acting world, a star of Nigeria's silver screen, and is widely credited with being one of those responsible for the birth of Nollywood. In 2009, she left the industry after marrying her second husband Reverend Ameye and she entered the ministry. Now, aged 53, she's come full circle and has returned to acting - all whilst being a woman of the cloth. She spoke to Focus on Africa's Bola Mosuro about the industry-wide changes she's witnessed over the last few decades.
