How is the threat of coronavirus affecting refugees?

World Update

Available for over a year

Refugees are one of the most vulnerable groups who might be seriously impacted by coronavirus. Organisations working with refugees such as the Norwegian Refugee Council have said the virus would  "decimate" their communities and the International Rescue Committee is calling for more help in order to protect people living in what is quite often overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. Laura Kyrke Smith, UK director for the International Rescue Committee, explains what we know about the affect of the virus in refugee camps and how concern about an outbreak of Covid-19 could affect resettlement programmes.
