Symphony in C major

Experience Classical

Available for over a year

Written when Bizet was only 17, this symphony is nevertheless a fresh and inventive work, rich in melody, harmony, and orchestration. Although Bizet had little interest in the work, later conductors championed it, and the work passed into the Romantic canon. Lost and forgotten for 80 years, the box fresh delights of Bizet’s Symphony in C major were later wholeheartedly embraced especially in choreographed form as the ballet ‘Le Palais de Cristal’ expressing perfectly the graceful high spirits of this piece. Composer: Georges Bizet Performers: Â鶹Éç National Orchestra of Wales Conductor: Francois-Xavier Roth Recording date: 07 November 2008
