Here's our second reading from this year's Caine prize for African writing shortlist. Today’s reading is from "Fishermen's Stew" by Jowhor Ile from Nigeria. It concerns Nimi, a woman who shares a compound with her neighbour Ibifuro. The story begins describing the late return home of Nimi's partner Benji after work and then there's a description of their passionate love-making. The next morning, Nimi wakes up alone and bewildered. She joins Ibifuro who is washing clothes in the compound. It is read here by Paul Bakibinga. *This year Audrey Brown who is one of Focus’ presenters was a judge of the competition, she did it in a private capacity. (Photo: Jowhor Ile. Credit: Jowhor Ile)
