Reparation protest: 'We have to rebel against the status-quo'

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Tomorrow is Emancipation Day, which commemorates the 1833 Abolition of Slavery Act, which officially came to force on the 1st of August 1834. The day is marked with a march and a demand for a hearing to unpack the impact and for reparations. After six years of marching, campaigners are doing it differently this year. The demands are the same, but the methods are different. Audrey Brown has been talking to Esther Stanford-Xosei, she speaks for the Stop Maangamizi Movement. (Photo: Esther Stanford-Xosei.
