Exposing the health impact of diesel vehicles

Discovery

Available for over a year

When in the late 1990s the UK government was encouraging us all to buy diesel cars to help reduce our carbon emissions, Frank Kelly warned that while diesel engines might be less bad for the planet than petrol engines, they were more damaging to our health. Later in 2013, Frank - director of the Environmental Research Group at King’s College London - and his team provided evidence that diesel vehicles were emitting up to 40 times more nitrogen dioxide than motor manufacturers claimed.
