Spelling Bee: 12 year old Tenzin Mainoo named Ghana's regional semi finalist

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Spelling bees are competitions held on local, regional, national and international level where children from around the world compete against each other in spelling and grammar. These competitions have ground to a halt because of the coronavirus pandemic. In Ghana, Eugenia Tachie-Menson - country director of the Young Educators Foundation and organiser of the Spelling Bee - felt they must go on. On Sunday, 12 year old Tenzin Mainoo became tGhana's regional semi-finalist. The Â鶹Éç's Bola Mosuro has been talking to Eugenia and Tenzin. (Photo: Tenzin Mainoo. Credit: Spelling Bee)
