Liz Johnson Artur is a Russian-Ghanaian photographer based in the UK. She was born in Bulgaria and educated in Germany. She specialises in taking pictures of people of African descent or Africans living out of the continent in the diaspora. This year her talent was recognised by the Turner Prize, the most high-profile award in British art and she was one of ten artists awarded a £10,000 ($14,000) grant.
