Newsday

Available for over a year

They may be thousands of miles from America, but residents of Thulasendrapuram in Tamil Nadu are taking special notice of today's US presidential election. The south Indian village is the place Kamala Harris's maternal grandfather was born and raised, before the family headed to the US. Now villagers are praying for her success in the temple established thanks to donations from her family - while her picture is proudly displayed on posters around the village. The Â鶹Éç's Tamil service correspondent Pramila Krishnan is in the village. (Photo: A motorcyclist drives past a billboard celebrating Kamala Harris in Thulasendrapuram. Credit: Reuters)
