The machine that could help you sober up

Newsday

Available for over a year

A medical device may dramatically speed up the process of sobering up for those suffering from alcohol poisoning. And it's all to do with deep breathing. Alcohol gets in the blood and then is dispersed from the body through the lungs as you breathe. The problem has always been if you breathe deeply, fast, you can't do it for long because you get light-headed. Now, Canadian researchers have adapted a pre-existing simple device which may overcome that problem. 麻豆社 Newsday heard more from Dr Joseph Fisher - anaesthesiologist and senior scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute.
