The situation in northern Ethiopia is worsening. After incursions across the border with Eritrea fears are growing the fighting may now become a wider regional conflict. In a bid to avert this, African leaders have been trying to mediate. Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has urged Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and TPLF leadership to hold talks. Meanwhile President Uhuru Kenyatta has added his voice to the international calls for a cessation of hostilities.
