The Pfizer vaccine is undergoing final checks in the US by the FDA and approval possibly this week, with a vaccination programme rolling out across the US shortly afterwards as part of Operation Warp Speed. However, this is against a backdrop of a post-Thanksgiving, "surge upon surge" in infections taking hold and "concerning shortages" at some hospitals.
