Born and raised in North London, Afro Comb are a hip-hop/soul duo whose soothing grooves and soulful melodies have been catching our attention since they first uploaded back in April. Made up of Caira Naomi and Denzel Nonso, the pair are also a couple, balancing their shared life and art masterfully. Their music soundtracks contemporary social issues with an eclectic sound, borrowing from R&B, neo-soul, drum & bass, house music and everything in between. Hailing from Edgware, it wasn’t until the pair started dating that their sound developed. Meeting after a mutual friend passed away and Caira shared a poem she had written about them with Denzel, they soon moved in together and started churning out music. Focusing their efforts on their sound over the last few months, Afro Comb’s first upload was ‘Faith’, a gorgeous blend of soulful vocals and softly thumping R&B beats, and they have continued to deliver. ‘Venus’ is the latest release and, with its house inflections, demonstrates just how versatile this duo can be.
