Why we shouldn't fall for the ‘climate doom porn’ narrative

Newshour

Available for over a year

Climate scientist Michael Mann warns that climate change deniers have adopted a new strategy based on what he’s calling "doomist" claims, which he says are based on "bad science". He insists we have the tools needed to solve the problem of global warming and suggests we should be wary of many of the narratives pointing to the planet's imminent destruction, and of the fossil fuel industry's tactic of diverting attention away from their own carbon footprint. "The fossil fuel industry would like us focusing on our carbon footprint rather than theirs," says Mann. Photo: A chimney at Laziska power station, Poland. Credit: Reuters
