Armed forces personnel who were dismissed in the past just because of their sexuality can now apply to have their medals restored. The Defence Minister Johnny Mercer described it as a "historic wrong" and says the Government is determined to put things right. The announcement's been wecomed by many LGBT veterans. The military charity Fighting With Pride says this is a good first step. Its chief executive, Lieutenant Commander Craig Jones, served in Derry in the mid-90s.
