Claire Mercer from Rotherham lost her husband to a crash on the stretch of smart motorway. Jason, 44, died on 7 June on the M1 near Sheffield. She's been campaigning for them to be scrapped ever since. MPs are to investigate the benefits of smart motorways - after numerous concerns were raised about their safety. The Commons Transport Committee will consider whether they should continue to be used in their current form.
