Covid vaccines: How incidents of blood clots can be treated

Science In Action

Available for over a year

Blood clots - thromboses - have been a problem for a small number of people following vaccination with the AstraZeneca, and some other, vaccines. Paul Knöbl, a consultant haematologist, and a team of medics in Vienna have worked out the link between vaccination and clot development and they now have a method to treat such clots. He explains how a patient reported symptoms of thromboses and how the treatment was applied. (An account of his treatment has been published by the specialist Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis.)
