No Mow May: Dorset grass verges 'leading the way'

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

A leading wildlife charity has told Â鶹Éç Radio Solent that Dorset is 'leading the way' with its grass verges. Conservation charity Plantlife's No Mow May campaign promotes wildflower growth to provide more food for pollinators. But earlier this week, residents in Stalbridge were left saddened after a wild flower verge they'd planted was mowed by the Council. The local authority said there had been complaints about visibility for motorists. Earlier this week, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council announced its intention to trial a fresh approach to grass management to help improve biodiversity and the Council's carbon footprint. Â鶹Éç Radio Solent's Dorset reporter Laurence Herdman has the story.
