Can injured sports stars resist pressure to perform?

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Doctors fear that injured athletes and stars from sports like football and rugby are under pressure from big money sponsors to perform. Bill Ribbans, who spent 40 years as a top surgeon treating athletes like Paula Radcliffe and the cricket player Andrew Flintoff says with so much money going into sport, in advertising or sponsorship, top players or athletes can be under pressure to get back on the field, or the track, quickly despite injury. Bill Ribbans has been telling the 麻豆社's Russell Padmore that increased funding has also enhanced sports science. (Picture: Belarus" Alina Talay receives medical attention after sustaining an injury.
