As more and more countries confront a surge in coronavirus infections, due in many regions to the dominance of the Delta variant, many are watching how Israel is dealing with their third wave of cases, given how quickly it managed to get its population double-vaccinated. Having vaccinated 90% of the over-50s, the Israeli Ministry of Health is now looking to offer a third booster jab to "severely immuno-compromised, high risk patients". Professor Eyal Leshhem, director of the Centre for Travel Medicine and Tropical Diseases at the Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Aviv, explains why.
