'They told me there was no vacancy and they cannot admit an albino'
Focus on AfricaAvailable for over a year
A 15-year-old student has exposed the bigotry and discrimination that people with albinism face. Winnie Jelimo sought to be admitted to five schools but was denied entry because of her condition. Despite getting top grades in her exams, the schools refused. One school openly said they wouldn't give her a place because she has albinism. As Winnie's father said they discriminated "Arrogantly without hiding". Well, thankfully Kapkenda Girls High School for Girls didn't share such prejudices and they've offered her a place. Bola Mosuro has been speaking to Winnie and her father Samuel Rotitch about her ordeal.
