"It almost became like a sanctuary during lockdown" - we take a trip to the Par Bay Community Garden

Jack Murley

Available for over a year

At one point, it's fair to say it was a bit of a wilderness. But after 30 volunteers spent more than 400 hours digging, drilling and dowsing, a patch of neglected land in a village near St Austell had been transformed into a beautiful space for community gardening. And years after its creation, Par Bay Community Garden has become a hub for everything from sunflower competitions to birthday celebrations. Our weekend presenter Jack Murley has been to find out more. WANT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR GUESTS?
