Do we work harder in the office or at home?

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The pandemic has brought about the great 'working from home experiment' - and many theories have emerged on whether this is better or worse for work culture and the standard of work being produced. Some say that working remotely allows mediocre workers to hide. Others that it is easier to see who brings the most value when colleagues are not in the office. And now research from an Asian technology firm shows that people worked longer, but that failed to translate into increased productivity. Pilita Clark, Financial Times journalist, reports on the various theories. Photo: Man playing with paper aeroplane Credit: Getty Images
