Several African governments have now deployed troops to Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, where an insurgency has killed thousands of people over the past four years. Rwanda was the first to commit numbers, sending in around 1,000 soldiers, while South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola and Botswana have also pledged to send forces in to support the Mozambican army. Borges Nhamirre, a research consultant at the Institute for Security Studies, tells Focus on Africa’s Esau Williams more.
