How Leicestershire Police are connecting with farmers and combating rural crime

Jimmy Carpenter

Available for over a year

Rural crime in Leicestershire cost more than a million pounds last year. But there is some good news, according to NFU Mutual that’s a 30% decrease from 2019. To help combat this and to connect farmers with the police, a new rural team has been set up in Leicestershire. Yesterday Â鶹Éç Radio Leicester’s Jimmy Carpenter went to meet Sgt Paul Archer at Enderby HQ. He jumped in his 4x4 for a trip around South Leicestershire. While the farmers were either out on their fields or busy preparing to head out, Jimmy had a walk and talk to see what opportunists might find. The whistle stop tour took them to Market Harborough, Tur Langton, Great Glen, Arnesby and Burton Overy.
