The furlough scheme that's helped support millions of workers during the pandemic, ends today. Under the scheme - the Government paid towards the wages of people who couldn't work, or whose employers could no longer afford to pay them, up to a monthly limit of £2,500. At its peak - a third of the workforce was being paid by the Government and it's cost sixty-eight-billion pounds over the last eighteen months. But there's uncertainty for those workers currently on the scheme - with some badly-hit sectors saying support should continue. So where does this leave employers and employees now? Chris Manka is North West chair of the Federation of Small Business he spoke to Paul Salt on Âé¶¹Éç Radio Merseyside Breakfast about how vital it's been for businesses...
