Long delays for ambulances are being put down to an increased demand on services, staff shortages and long handover times at A&E. One woman in Southport waited 30 hours before an ambulance reached her. Her neighbour Martin Towers says the woman, who has Parkinson's and dementia, was left in severe pain over the weekend - before finally being taken to hospital on Sunday evening. Paul Turner is Deputy Branch Secretary of the GMB Union, and a paramedic with the North West Ambulance Service. He spoke to Paul Salt on Â鶹Éç Radio Merseyside about the problems the service is facing.
