Britain's bravest village - or is it?!

Steve Harris

Available for over a year

Shillingstone, between Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum, is England's bravest village. But a hamlet in Kent also claims the title. You'll know this if you've driven through in the last week, because it has some snazzy new gates as you enter village announcing that fact. It's because of the proportion of the population which enlisted at the start of World War One. In response, George V wrote to the village commending local residents. Chair of the Parish Council, Rachel McNamara, spoke to Â鶹Éç Radio Solent.
