Liverpool's Ferry Terminal to be renamed in honour of Gerry Marsden

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

Plans have been announced to play tribute to one of Liverpool's most famous and beloved sons, Gerry Marsden. Gerry, who sadly passed away in January last year, was the frontman for sixties beat group Gerry and the Pacemakers and was made famous the world over by his iconic versions of "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Ferry, Cross The Mersey". Now, after public support for the idea, the Pier Head Mersey Ferry Terminal is to be re-named in his honour. Its new name will be 'The Liverpool Gerry Marsden Ferry Terminal' and will commemorate the historic link between the music icon and the Mersey Ferries and has been developed in discussion with Gerry’s family. Gerry's daughter, Vicky tells of her family's pride at the decision.
