Trapped on a blind date because of a Covid lockdown

A sudden Covid-19 lockdown in China has reportedly led to a woman getting stuck at the house of a man she met on a blind date. A woman, identified as Ms Wang, posted on Chinese social media platform WeChat last week that she had got locked down with her date after visiting his house in the city of Zhengzhou for a meal. She said that her parents had arranged some blind dates for her, and her fifth date had invited her to his house as he said he was good at cooking. However, during the meal, she discovered that his community had gone into a sudden lockdown due to cases of Covid-19, and she ended up being unable to leave his house for several days. But love hasn't blossomed - although she praised his housework skills, she says he's not the one for her as he wasn't very talkative. Millions of people in China are currently living under lockdown as the authorities attempt to contain any outbreaks of the virus. Michael Bristow, Â鶹Éç correspondent, explains what happened on this unexpectedly long blind date. Photo: A couple share an Asian meal Credit: Getty Images
