The matchmakers still bringing lovers together in a digital age

Newshour

Available for over a year

The way people find love has changed over the years, from blind dates to mobile apps and meeting that special someone in a bar, church or art gallery - and everywhere in between. But for generations, matchmakers have stood the test of time and brought two star-crossed, and sometimes shy, people together for love and marriage. Dassy Miller runs an introductions service for Orthodox Jews and Naseem Mohammed the equivalent in the Muslim community. They explain the questions they ask, and the qualities that are most promising for a successful relationship. "It's mindset, personality and outlook on life - it's not so much the money part, it's the 'can we get on as people?' part," says Naseem. Photo: A couple gaze at the mountains. Credit: Getty Images
