110th Anniversary of Titanic

Paul Salt

Available for over a year

This month will mark the 110th anniversary of the most famous shipwreck in history. At 11.40pm on the night of Sunday 14 April the 'Titanic' struck an iceberg to the south-east of Newfoundland. The collision fatally damaged the hull and the ship sank two hours and forty minutes later with the loss of more than 1,500 lives. The tragedy has left a lasting imprint through the years, in particular here on Merseyside, due to the ships connection with Liverpool. The city's Maritime Museum will be marking the anniversary. Ian Murphy is the Head of the Maritime Museum and Dave Brown is the Participation Facilitator there.
