Nigerian environment activist Moussa Ibrahim is one of the more than 500 young people participating in the United Nations COP 15 summit on combating desertification. The conference, which is being held in the Ivorian city Abidjan, has brought together government ministers, NGOs, civil society groups and young activists under the theme of 'Land. Life. Legacy: From scarcity to prosperity'. Overgrazing and urbanisation can lead to land degradation, water scarcity, food scarcity and loss of livelihood. Speaking to Focus on Africa, Moussa calls for "climate-smart agriculture" to restore the environment and achieve sustainable land management.
