More that 2000 delegates, including 100 education ministers, have been attending a three-day 'pre summit' in Paris, focusing on Education. The aim is to draw up a road-map ahead of the main United Nations General Assembly gathering in September. The meeting looked at ways to recover from the loss of learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as re-imagining current and future world education systems. The UN Deputy Secretary General, Amina Mohammed, who co-chaired the pre summit, told Focus on Africa's Veronique Edwards that there is now an "education emergency" in Africa.
