More than 100 killed in South Sudan cattle raids

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Farming communities and cattle herders have clashed over livestock and grazing fields in Eastern Equatoria state. Several people were killed following cattle raids in one of the villages. The farmer-herder conflict also reflects rivalries between different ethnic groups. Speaking to Focus on Africa's Hassan Arouni, the state governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, said more than 100 people were killed in just one day. He said authorities are doing all they can to stop the raids and restore peace and reconciliation. Photo: An armed man guards cattle in a village in South Sudan. Credit: AFP/Getty Images.
