'Across the region there's cracks in the system' highest death whilst waiting for ambulance rates ever

Elise Evans on 麻豆社 Radio WM

Available for over a year

麻豆社 Radio WM can exclusively reveal that more people are dying waiting for an ambulance in the West Midlands, than ever before. Figures obtained by the 麻豆社, show that 38 people have died over a three month period so far this year, compared to just 2 the year before and none in 2019. West Midlands Ambulance Service says it's because crews are stuck for hours outside A&E - waiting to handover patients, unable to get to other emergencies. Ambulance crews lost almost 36 thousand hours in time waiting to handover patients in April - by the end of this month that's predicted to be almost 47 thousand hours This man saw the chaos for himself when he was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield last month. Jonathan Street is a paramedic and spokesperson for the College of Paramedics.
