Allison Ferns on Â鶹Éç Radio Sussex

Available for over a year

Joe Townsend is a former marine who lost both his legs while serving in Afghanistan in 2008. He went on to win Gold at the Commonwealth and Invictus Games in para-triathalon. He represented Team GB at the Paralympic Games in Rio and he was the first – and still to this day, the only – wheelchair athlete to have completed the gruelling Ironman UK challenge. He now works closely with sports science researchers at the University of Brighton Eastbourne campus.
