The international aid agency, Islamic Relief, is warning of a "catastrophe" in Somalia unless more is done to help those in dire need. More than seven million people are food insecure with little, or no, water or shelter; and many have been displaced and are living in camps. The UN had already stated that Somalia was "knocking at famine's door." Aliow Mohamed, who is Islamic Relief's country director for Somalia, says the agency is operating on the ground to provide assistance, but their efforts are just a drop in the ocean. He told Focus on Africa's Bola Mosuro that what is urgently needed is more money to buy food, as well as other critical interventions.
