Syria may 'return to large-scale fighting' - UN

Newshour

Available for over a year

Syria has endured more than a decade of conflict and more than 350,000 civilians have been killed since the civil war began in 2011. Millions more are suffering in displacement camps. An independent report for the United Nations has warned that Syrian civilians face the prospect of a new escalation in fighting after a flare-up in violence in several parts of the country. The report also said Russian bombardments on opposition-held areas have intensified. Hanny Megally is one of the independent report's authors. He told Newshour's Rob Young why they are warning of an intensification of fighting in Syria, (Photo shows Hanny Megally at a press conference to present a report on rights violations.
